India's third private train Kashi Mahakaal Express has reserved berth no 64 in coach B5 for Lord Shiva. This has left us with more than a few question Kashi Mahakaal Express has reserved a seat for Lord Shiva. Third private train Kashi Mahakaal Express received the green flag on Sunday from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and it is making headlines but for a very different reason. The train that will run from Varanasi to Indore and connect three Jyotirlinga shrines Omkareshwar, Mahakaleshwar, and Kashi Vishwanath has a Shiva temple inside it. You can read that again. This temple on wheels is the dream train for all the Shiv bhakts.Varanasi: Seat number 64 of coach B5 in Kashi Mahakal Express (Varanasi-Indore) has been turned into a mini-temple of Lord Shiva. The train was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi via video conferencing yesterday. 2020Meaning, since the time you get inside this train,...

your pilgrimage starts. Seat no 64 in the B5 coach has been reserved for Lord Shiva. The temple on wheels has everything that makes it a real temple including framed idols of Lord Shiva and flowers for decorative purposes. The temple was even inaugurated by bursting open a coconut which is considered lucky and lighting incense sticks with a match (A lot of concerned people are raising eyebrows right now). But that is not all, to actually make you feel like you are in a temple or for your adhyatmic anubhav’, pre-recorded bhajans will be playing the entire time in the background. Even the facilities provided in this train are a notch superior compared to its counterparts. There are CCTV cameras in each coach, a better pantry, and better washrooms. But the concept of temple on wheels left us with a lot of questions.1. Do we treat this like a temple or a train? What are the do's and the don'ts that need to be followed?2. Will there be any non-vegetarian food items served in that particular coach of the train or any other coach for that matter? There are conflicting versions about the lord’s food preferences.3. Consumption of alcohol and smoking is not permitted in the train but as it is almost a Shiv mandir, will the priests be serving bhole baba ka prasad (bhang)? Benaras has plenty of it!4. Will people ban menstruating women from the coach? Because this seems to be the burning topic all the time. Period.5. One is not allowed to wear footwear inside the temple, are the current commuters suppose to roam around barefoot in the train? That is some serious cleanliness issue.6. The seat that has been reserved for Bhole Nath is 64, which is the side upper berth and closer to the washrooms. To top that why would Lord Shiva, a resident of Mount Kailash in the cold Himalayas, be allotted a berth in a non-AC coach? We know he is rough and tough and all but is this some kind of test?7. To be close to the god and book a berth in that coach, will people have to pay extra for the seats next to the VIP berth?8. People generally take extra care to keep the house of god squeaky clean, does that mean establishing a temple inside a train will result in a clean washroom and coaches during the entire journey. We can literally thank god for that.9. The video also shows one of the train officials lighting incense with a match stick diya on the train. Lighting of any kind of fire is prohibited inside trains, no?10. Temples also follow a strict dress code, all the visitor’s clothes need to be appropriate, nothing over the knee and pallu on the head at all times. Will the commuters have to follow these dress codes or they are allowed to wear comfortable clothes for their journey?Mahashivratri falls on February 21, 2020, but IRCTC has released a statement saying that the temple will be taken down by February 20, 2020. The Kashi Mahakaal Express will start commercially from that day.IRCTC: There is going to be no such reserved or dedicated berth for this purpose in the commercial run of the train which is starting from 20th February 2020.The train will run from Varanasi to Indore on three days of the week out of which two days will be via Lucknow and one day via Allahabad. There are 7-8 packages for the people to chose from. If you travel with the lord of all things, go and book yourself a seat and pray that the train doesn’t derail.

The upcoming Indore-Varanasi private train would run three days a week - two days via Lucknow and one day via Allahabad.
Indore-Varanasi private Humsafar Express coming soon! IRCTC’s third private train on the Indian Railways network would run between Indore and Varanasi! Recently, Railway Board Chairman Vinod Kumar Yadav was quoted in a PTI report saying that the overnight train would have similar rakes as those of Indian Railways’ Humsafar Express. He further said that the upcoming train service will ply on the Indore-Varanasi route. Currently, the e-ticketing and catering arm of Indian Railways, IRCTC operates the first two private trains of India – Lucknow-Delhi Tejas Express and Ahmedabad-Mumbai Tejas Express.

to officials quoted in the report, the upcoming Indore-Varanasi private train would run three days a week – two days via Lucknow and one day via Allahabad. The new Humsafar Express would be the first private train by IRCTC to have sleeper coaches, and not chair car coaches. The upcoming private train is likely to begin its operations around February 20.
The Humsafar Express trains of Indian Railways are an upgraded version of the premium Rajdhani Express trains, best suitable for overnight long-distance journeys. The fully air-conditioned train service boasts various modern features such as comfortable berths, extensive fire retardant, and suppression system, tea/coffee/soup vending machines, GPS-based passenger information system, multiple mobile charging points, LED lights, toilet occupancy indicators, CCTV cameras, modular bio-toilets, etc.
According to Yadav, more than two dozen private firms, including global majors Alstom Transport, Macquarie, Bombardier, and Siemens AG have shown interest in the proposal. He further said that Tata is among the companies which have shown interest to run private trains on the Indian Railways network.
According to the Railway Board Chairman, while as many as 150 trains that are to be run by private players are in the pipeline, till the modalities are complete, IRCTC, the catering and e-ticketing arm of Indian Railways, will continue to operate the trains. In fact, the move by Indian Railways to let private operators run passenger trains has attracted more than two dozen companies. While the infrastructure, operations, safety, and maintenance will be handled by the national transporter, the private players can take rakes on lease and offer better on board experience and services to railway passengers, in terms of comfort, food, entertainment, among others, he said.
Recently, a discussion paper was issued by NITI Aayog and Piyush Goyal chaired Railway Ministry has forecast investment of around Rs 22,500 crore to run the 150 private trains across 100 Indian Railways’ routes. The private firms will have to bid for a network of routes, however, the bids will be finalized on a revenue-sharing model.

The local population is opposing the fully air-conditioned local train services, citing the expense factor.
Mumbai Local Trains: Indian Railways is likely to introduce trains with both AC and non AC coaches in Mumbai’s suburban network! The decision is being taken due to resistance from commuters towards higher ticket prices. At present, two fully AC local trains run on the suburban network across Mumbai. Chairman Railway Board VK Yadav was quoted in a PTI report saying that after the two AC local train services were introduced by Western Railway and Central Railway zones for Mumbai’s suburban network, discussions by stakeholders have revealed that there is some opposition to the AC local trains as there is a resistance towards higher ticket prices.

According to Yadav, the local population is opposing the fully air-conditioned local train services, citing the expense factor. The negotiations are ongoing and Indian Railways is planning to come up with a combination of six AC coaches and six non AC coaches or a combination of three AC coaches and nine non AC coaches in a single train rake. He further added that five fully AC train local trains are already ready with the national transporter. The city’s AC local train with state-of-the-art security features is equipped with an automatic door closing system, fire fighting system, talk back system and many other modern facilities.
The first AC local train of Indian Railways ran in the city of Mumbai on 25 December 2017 under the Western Railway zone. The train is operated between Borivali and Churchgate. Initially, as an introductory offer, the ticket price for a single journey on the AC local train was 1.2 times that of the same journey in the first class. However, with effect from 1 June 2019, 1.3 times the base fare of the existing single journey of first class ticket was decided by Indian Railways. The Central Railway zone of Indian Railways launched its first AC local train service between Mumbai’s Panvel and Thane on 30 January 2020.

350 locomotives in 250 working days.
According to Railway Ministry, the target of 350 locomotives was achieved in 299 working days in the financial year 2017-18 and in 281 working days in the financial year 2018-19. Thus, by accomplishing the feat in just 250 working days in this financial year, the time taken has reduced by 49 working days since the financial year 2017-18. For the last six months, CLW produced an average of 40 locomotives since August 2019. The locomotive manufacturer produced 43 locomotives in August 2019, 38 locomotives in September 2019, 40 locomotives in October 2019, 40 locomotives in November 2019, 41 locomotives in December 2019 and 43 locomotives in January 2020.
Meanwhile, the national transporter has also seen a big growth in coach production. A few days ago, it was reported that Indian Railways’ Rail Coach Factory in Kapurthala, Punjab had turned out its 1000th passenger coach in the financial year 2019-20. The noteworthy achievement for this financial year was made by the factory in a shorter period than the previous year. The Railway Ministry recently stated that the factory is targetting to develop over 2,000 coaches in the coming financial year of 2020-21 with a target of producing as many as 1,000 coaches before the month of October 2020.

new Tejas Express style premium trains on major tourism routes to setting up large solar power capacity alongside rail tracks, the national transporter is up for a major boost. Let us take a look at some of the steps that are being taken to improve the experience of passengers through new technologies, as highlighted in the Union Budget 2020 speech:
1. Indian Railways has provided fast and free WiFi facilities at over 5,500 railway stations across the country, benefitting the common public.
2. The budget stated that the automatic updation of train timings through the Real Time Train Information System is improving the punctuality of Indian Railways. Moreover, the system is giving an accurate estimate of train arrival as well as train departure to the passenger.
3. In a bid to help predict the possibility of a ticket confirmation, Artificial Intelligence (AI) based system is being used by the national transporter.
4. Total transparency, as well as accountability in quality of food items, is being initiated through the use of CCTV cameras at IRCTC base kitchens which does live streaming of these kitchens. Also, food packets with QR codes are linked to the kitchen where they have been cooked or prepared.
5. With the provision of handheld devices and POS machines, digital payment is getting a boost.
Meanwhile, the Finance Minister in her Union Budget 2020 speech stated that a sum of Rs 100 lakh crore would be invested in India’s infrastructure over the period of the next 5 years.
