With the lifts not working, passengers have to use escalators or the bridge that connects all platforms. 
For the past 18 months, railway commuters, especially senior citizens and people with physical disabilities, have been struggling to reach platforms at Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna Railway Station. The reason? The subway lifts that connect a majority of the platforms have not been working.

of the water is being cited as another reason for the corrosion. With the lifts not working, these passengers have to either take the escalators or use the bridge that connects all platforms. Climbing the stairs, while carrying heavy baggage and sometimes infants and toddlers, is an inconvenience, say passengers.
Nisar Ahmed, Deputy Station Manager, said that it would cost approximately ₹5 crore to replace subway lifts. “The escalators on platforms 1 to 8 were an effective alternative. There is also a buggy service for senior citizens and other passengers. However, it has not made the intended impact,” he said.
A Railways official, on condition of anonymity, said nothing had been done to either repair the lifts or prepare a project for their replacement.
