New Delhi: The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has been regularly developing the facilities for on-board passengers on the trains. The benefits including delicious food, on-demand services such as wi-fi, e-catering applications, ease of booking tatkal tickets, cancellation of train tickets booked from Indian Railways counters, booking and reservation offices, concessional train tickets for patients, disabled, senior citizens, and affordable rates of pilgrimage tours have enhanced passenger’s satisfaction and have further helped in bringing more customers.
All the aforementioned benefits can be availed through the IRCTC e-ticketing website, IRCTC has prescribed guidelines for food served to the onboard passengers in the Rajdhani Express, Shatabdi Express and Duronto Express trains.
to the latest itenary of cyclic menu for lunch/dinner served to the passengers of Rajdhani Express, Shatabdi Express and Duronto Express, IRCTC offers exotic delicacies such as kadhai paneer, paneer do pyaza, roasted chicken, fish fry, hakka noodles, chicken manchurian, murgh jalfrezi, paneer cutlet with brown bread, roomali roti in the lunch/dinner to the passengers of 1 AC and Executive Class of chair car trains. The desserts served to the passengers travelling by these classes include pista kulfi, gulab jamun, kesar kulfi and butterscotch ice-cream.
The above-mentioned menu is not constant for all days. The food pantry managers of these trains keep rotating the menu on a cyclical basis. As per Indian Railways, absorbent paper napkin of good quality not synthetic approved by Railways is provided to all the passenger of 1AC/EC classes. All the meals served to 1AC/EC passengers should be on bone china crockery and the stainless steel cutlery is wrapped in cloth napkin.
Passengers may lodge their complaints/suggestions to catering services monitoring cell (CSMC) function at zonal railways level and in Railway Board at a national toll free number 1800-111-321, Indian Railways said. Complaints with regard to the catering in these trains can also be lodged online via IRCTC website and in the complaint books available with the Pantry car manager, Train superintendent and Guard.
